Kiwi Update: A picture says a thousand words…

If the old adage is true and a picture really does say a thousand words, then why not make the picture say exactly what you want it to? Photoshop has broadened the boundaries of image led advertising campaigns, stepping outside of what is possible. The results can be eye catching and thought provoking, grabbing attention for being out of the ordinary.

See how using Photoshop has enhanced our recent campaign for Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Lifestyle Services.

Kiwi Update: Aware of what to wear?

Hey there Kiwis,

Somewhere between dog naps last week I managed to find time to go and network with some of the other building tenants. Half way through my Lemon Drizzle Slice, my ears pricked up when I heard a conversation between some of my neighbours about how they dress for work and more importantly meetings and presentations.

I looked around the room and there were many people there, all dressed differently – from casual right the way across to a full suit and tie, some even quite fashionable. I found it interesting that so many people in the same building had different ideas of what is acceptable work attire and what isn’t – I mean even night clubs have a dress code (or so I’m told)!

In my view, how you dress for work should be an important part of your overall marketing strategy. After all, you are a walking, talking advert for your business. Whatever persona you give to your business through its branding and communications, how you and your staff present yourselves should reflect that to ensure consistency of message.

As a dog, I want to be seen by others as cute and innocent in order to receive fuss and treats so I wear a curly blonde coat as it effectively represents the image I am hoping to portray. Does what you wear for work fit in with the image you are building with your company's branding?

See you next time!

Kiwi Update: Getting Fruity!

Hello kiwis, Henry here!

Emma and Julie have been very busy lately designing things and coming up with campaigns for their lovely clients so I am pleased to have been promoted to Chief Blogger. I’m the only one who has anything interesting to say anyway!

This week, I overheard Julie and Emma talking about their plans for Twisted Kiwi's own marketing, so to help, I got online and started looking at fun ways that fruit is used in communications. As you can imagine, I was spoiled for choice! Fruit is very popular because its versatility and colour means that you can really get creative with it!

Easily the favourite thing that I found was this set of posters promoting a farmer's market. The amusing manipulation of the fruit's skin injects youth and fun into something that is widely seen as a traditional, old fashioned industry. Meanwhile, the simple, minimalism of the rest of the poster allows the hero image to steal the show. I just love how thinking outside the box and a little bit of bravery has really changed my perception of farmer's markets.

No prizes for guessing which our favourite image is!

Well, I’m off to bark at the printer now but see you here next week for more kiwi fun.

Kiwi Update: First impressions… business cards

Hello!

Due to a recent rise in enquiries that we’ve received from new start-up companies, I have been looking more closely at first impressions. You rarely get more than one chance to make a first impression on new people and potential clients so it’s really important that you get it right. Your audience will make a decision about you, and about possibly working with you, based not only on the look / personality of the particular person standing in front of them but also on the look / personality you give to your business; your company’s brand.

Good branding represents the profile of the company it is created for. It is important that the branding remains true to the product or service the company delivers, to the ethos created by its founders, to the personality of its employees and its standard of service. If the brand does not remain true to the company it represents, then that business will not give its target market all of the information it needs to know within the first impression for them to be able to make an informed decision. An opportunity lost.

Branding is also a way of standing out from your competitors. For example, you may offer a very similar product or service to your main competition but you may choose to make your company appear more exclusive through the theme of your branding in order to differentiate your offering.

The king of the first impression is of course the business card. You meet and manage to get your business card into your potential client’s hand hoping that they will keep it and refer back to it in the near future. Whether they realise it or not, the potential client will make a snap judgment about the quality of your business based on this little piece of card in much the same way that you have probably made a decision about Twisted Kiwi Marketing based on the look and tone of our website.

It’s a little piece of your business that you leave with someone telling them how you would like them to perceive you.

There are thousands of clever and creative business card designs all over the internet but pictured below are some of my favourites. They are for all different types of industries and people and although they are all extreme and fun examples, they effectively communicate the tone and offering of the company they represent.

So when you come to reprinting your business cards, stop and think about what message it’s sending out about you, and maybe venture into something a little bit more creative to make sure you stand out from your competition.
